What is WhatsApp Pink, how it works, and how to be safe from it?
Users are getting WhatsApp Pink links on WhatsApp through
messages which claim that the app's theme will change from green to pink. Avoid
clicking on any such type of link, as this can lead to phone hacking.
Facebook's instant messaging app WhatsApp is one of the most
popular apps used worldwide. Recently, such information is coming out that
users are getting links on WhatsApp via message claiming that it will change
the theme of the app from green to pink.
Apart from this, new features are also being claimed in this
link. After this, the cyber expert has warned WhatsApp users to avoid clicking
on any such link, as it may cause harm.
This link found on WhatsApp is shown as an official update
of WhatsApp. If users click on this link then their phone can be hacked. Apart
from this, access to the WhatsApp account can also be ended. According to the
information, WhatsApp users are unknowingly sharing this link with each other.
According to the information, the virus is being spread
through the APK download link in the WhatsApp group. Do not click on any link
of this type that shows #WhatsappPink. This allows users to have full access to
their phones. Thus, users should note that they do not have to install any APK
or mobile app available anywhere other than Google Play Store or Apple App
Store.
It is worth noting that the use of fake apps increases the
possibility of tampering with the phone and private data such as SMS, photos,
contacts, etc. can be stolen. Whatever you type can be tracked. Not only this but it can also be used to view and steal banking passwords. Now recently the case
of Pink WhatsApp or WhatsApp Gold is also for stealing users' data from fake
WhatsApp app. currently, a link to
Whatsapp Gold is also given along with Pink WhatsApp. On behalf of WhatsApp, it
has been said that WhatsApp users should beware of such fraud links. Users
should complain about such messages or links in the report section available in
the app. Also, block the number sending the dangerous link.
WhatsApp gave this reply
When contacted about this, WhatsApp said, "If anyone
receives a suspicious message or a message including an e-mail, do a thorough
investigation and take a cautious approach before responding to it." On
WhatsApp, we suggest people use the facilities we have provided and send us
a report, give information about the contact or block it. ''
How to spot a fake Android app
Just
because an app is in the Google Play Store doesn’t mean that it is a genuine
app. Google is constantly taking out fraudulent apps from
the Android market, such as fake antivirus, browsers, and games.
Further Google Play, and other app markets, there are many
other ways that fake apps can get onto your Android device. Scammers will try
any means compulsory to trick you into installing a fake app. Criminals use
emails and SMS messages that appear to be from your bank, Credit Card Company, or other brands to trick people into downloading applications that will
compromise their data. Sometimes fake apps will pose as security modernizes,
and clicking on the links may also lead to your information being stolen.
If you're an Android user and you receive an unexpected SMS,
a strange alert or notification, or unusual requests from what may seem to be
your bank or other familiar brands, beware: criminals may be trying to rip you
off.
What can you do to protect yourself?
Unwanted texts, emails, or unexpected notifications that
appear to be from a bank, merchant, or other known organization may not always
be what they seem. Use caution with any link delivered to you and always read
the message first. Instead of using the link provided in the message, go
directly to the website in question and log into your account the way you would
normally. If the message seems particularly annoying, call the company directly
to verify the information before performing online.
Similarly, only download Android apps from official sources,
such as the Google Play Store. Before downloading any app, do some inquiry? How
many times the app has been downloaded? A wildly popular app is a telltale sign
of a good app. Read app reviews, look at the developer, and do a search online.
There could be more information coming from other users who have previously
been tricked. Cybercriminals may try to fool you with fake reviews that are
often short and common, so be sure to check out any other apps made by the
developer. The more apps that the developer has created, the higher the chance that
the developer is the real deal.
Security or software update notifications can be a bit
trickier to decrypt. Often users receive a prompt to install a serious security
update. Your best action in this situation would be to search online to find
out information about that update. If there are multiple debates online about
that specific security update, that can confirm if it is genuine.
There are also strong visual things that stick out if you
want to identify fake Android apps. Spelling errors, shoddy logos, and unstable
or poorly formatted interfaces are clues the app may be fake.
Always remember to think before you click. Even though there
maybe a sense of earnestness to one-click and install, it is better to take
the time and remind yourself of all the signs an app may be fake.
An easy protection step everybody should take is to visit
your Android settings and make sure you do not allow third-party app downloads
from untrusted sites.
